  • Alums Watch Loree '03 Pitch for Newark Bears

    On August 17, 2010 a group of loyal Green Wave fans watched Mike Loree '03 take the mound for the Newark Bears in a minor league contest against the Lancaster Barnstormers. After a hard fought game the Bears beat the Barnstormers 10-8.

    Breaking news for Green Wave sports fans: The Nets have acquired Troy Murphy '98, the former Delbarton athlete who has played for the Indiana Pacers the past 3 1/2 seasons.

  • The Carter Cup

    The Carter Cup attracts the area's top junior golfers who test their mettle on two championship courses at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, NJ.

    The eighth annual Carter Cup, the Metropolitan Golf Association's Junior Stroke Play Championship, was held at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, NJ on August 4th. The invitational event is named in honor of the late Michael P. Carter '00, an accomplished junior player and standout member of the Green Wave golf team who died in a car accident in 2002.

  • Alumni Soccer Game Pits Odds vs. Evens

    Delbarton campus remains a lively venue during the summer months. For example, on aturday, July 17th, the Delbarton Soccer Program held its Annual Alumni Soccer game—a favorite yearly tradition which brings back to campus former players mostly in the New York-New Jersey area but some from farther afield.

  • Crotty '05 Scores Winning Goal to Put US on Top in World Lax Championship

    On July 24, 2010 Green Wave lax alum Ned Crotty's scored two goal to tie and help win the game as the U.S. defeated Canada 12-10 in the title contest at the FIL World Lacrosse Championships in Manchester, England.

  • Three Wave Alums Meet at NHL Training Camp

    Among players at the Pittsburgh Penguins camp last week, three were Green Wave alums.

    Three Green Wave hockey alums met up on the ice last week at the Pittsburgh Penguins prospect development camp. Two of the players, Kenny Agostino '10 and Alex Velischek '09, have already been drafted by the Penguin organization. The last, Alex Smigelski '06, a recent Williams graduate where he led the D-III hockey team, was invited to the camp as a tryout. Read about it on NHL.com...

    The Green Wave now has two Penguins in the ice house. Green Wave hockey player Kenny Agostino '10 was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins at Saturday's NHL Draft in Los Angeles. He joins former teammate and good friend Alex Velischek '09, another Penguins draft pick back in 2009.

    From golfing ten hours a day during spring break in South Carolina to a number two in the state ranking, the Green Wave golf program had a quite a ride in 2010. The team was recently named All Daily Record Golf Team of the Year, and Coach Sean Flanagan is Star Ledger Coach of the Year. Four members -- Nick Howard-Johnson '11, Bobby Kaminski '10, Frank Szucs '13 and John Voetsche '12 -- were selected to the All Daily Record First Team.

  • Crotty '05 Wins Tewaaraton Award

    Former Green Wave player and current Duke University senior attackman Ned Crotty '05 was named the recipient of the 2010 Tewaaraton Trophy as the nation's top men's lacrosse player.

    On May 28, 2010 members of the United States Naval Academy’s Class of 2010 graduated and became U.S. Navy midshipmen commissioned officers in the US Navy and Marine Corps. Three Delbarton graduates were in their ranks: Mike Campbell '06, Bill McAloon '05 and Mark Van Orden '06.

    Green Wave tennis won the Non-Public Group title on May 27, 2010. Delbarton defeated Christian Brothers Academy 5-0 to claim the title at Mercer County Park in West Windsor.

    Maybe it wasn't the title they were shooting for -- they were driving hard for the state's top spot -- but Green Wave golf team members can hold their heads high. The team earned top honors in the Non-Public A bracket at the NJSIAA Tournament of Champions on May 24, 2010 at the Rumson Country Club and ended the tourney in fifth place overall.

Frozen Flashback Highlights

On April 3, 2010 the 1989 state championship hockey game, postponed for 21 years due to a measles outbreak at Delbarton, was finally played at Mennen Arena. Green Wave players finally met their St. Joe's rivals on the ice, and the Wave ultimately won the thrilling contest 3-2. Enjoy these favorite shots from the remarkable Frozen Flashback game...
